My lenses of choice are Carl Zeiss, Rodenstock, and Nikon. I still very much prefer to expose film rather than “digits” and “pixels”. My digital darkroom is based around a Mac G4 utilizing Photoshop and SilverFast Scan Software. I use an Epson 4990 scanner and Epson R2400 printer to complete the package. Almost all printing is done on Premium Luster Photo paper. Occasionally I use watercolor or matte paper, depending on the image. My traditional darkroom centers around a Beseler enlarger with a condenser head. Along the way, I’ve managed to stockpile some quantity of Oriental VC paper, which is difficult to acquire these days. I love the way it tones. Although the rest of the world is rapidly moving totally into the digital arena, I continue to expose film. To date, the technology has not created a camera that is comparable to my 4X5 cameras in terms of flexibility and size. The view screen on the 4X5 camera is the perfect size. So for now, I remain with one foot in the future and one foot still in the past! |
